Event Details

This 7 hr intensive workshop will provide educators with innovative opportunities to develop awareness, understanding and capabilities to design systems of curriculum and instruction that foster civic engagement among their students. Service Learning connects students with their community, making them aware of the issues and problems in their surroundings & makes classroom discussions more interesting and appealing to students.

Instructor


Dr. Shehata is former director of the International Programs Office at the University of Maryland and has 35+ years of experience in higher education, civic development, and project coordination. He is a former University professor, and administrator. He held senior positions at the University of Maryland and has been a key player in creating partnerships between the University of Maryland and several other institutions across the world. He holds a Ph.D degree from University of California, and is author of publications in the areas of capacity building, agriculture, service learning and leadership development, and served on a number of US academic institutions board of directors.
